What We Believe

Our Beliefs

Church Covenant

Having been born again by the grace of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and being justified on the ground of His shed blood, and having confessed our faith before men, we do now in the presence of God and this assembly, most solemnly and joyfully enter into covenant with one another, as one body in Christ. (John 3:3, Romans 5:9; Romans 10:9,10; I Corinthians 12:13). We engage therefore, by the power of the Holy Spirit, to walk together in Christian love, and we will not forsake the assembling of ourselves together at the communion and other appointed meetings. We will strive for the advancement of this church in knowledge, holiness and comfort; to promote its prosperity and spirituality; to sustain it's worship, ordinances, discipline, and doctrines; to contribute cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the relief of the poor and the spread of the gospel through all nations. (John 13:34,35; Hebrews 10:25; I Peter 2:2; II Peter 3:18; I Corinthians 16:1; II Corinthians 8:9; II Corinthians 9:7,8; Matthew 28:18-20). We also engage to maintain family and private devotions; to educate our children in the Word of his grace; and to seek the salvation of our kindred and acquaintances. (Deuteronomy 6:6-9; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:4; II Timothy 3:14,15; Genesis 18:19; Joshua 24:15; II Timothy 1:5).
We engage, too, by the grace and power of God, that as strangers and pilgrims, we will abstain from all fleshly lusts which war against the soul; that we will put away from us all bitterness, wrath, anger, clamor, evil speaking, and will be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven us. (I Peter 2:11,12; Ephesians 4:31,32).
We further engage to watch over one another in brotherly love, to remember each other in prayer, and to aid each other in sickness and distress. (John 13:34,35; James 5:16).
We moreover engage that should we remove from this place we will, as the Lord leads, unite with another church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God's Word.

Doctrinal Statement

We believe in the scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as verbally inspired by God, inerrant in the original writings, infallible in practice of life, and that they are of supreme final authority in faith and life. (II Timothy 3:16,17; II Peter 1:19-21; I Peter 1:25).
We believe in one God, eternally existing in three persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. (I Timothy 2:5; John 14:9; Acts 5:3-4; Acts 20:28).
We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, and is true God and true man. (Luke 1:30-31,35; John 10:30; John 1:3; Hebrews 2:14,16; Philippians 2:8; I Timothy 2:5; I Corinthians 15:47).
We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned, and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, which is separation from God; and that all human beings are born with a sinful nature, and in the case of those who reach moral responsibility, become sinners in thought, word and deed. (Genesis 1:26-27; Romans 5:12; Genesis 3:3; Ezekiel 18:4; Romans 6:23; Psalm 51:5; John 3:6; Romans 3:23; Ecclesiastes 7:20).
We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died in behalf of our sins according to the scriptures as a substitutionary sacrifice, and that all who place their personal faith in His atoning work are justified on the ground of His shed blood. (I Corinthians 15:3,4; Isaiah 53:5,6; I Peter 2:24; John 3:36; Romans 5:1; Ephesians 1:7; Colossians 1:14; Titus 2:14; I Peter 1:18-19; Hebrews 1:3).
We believe in the physical resurrection of the crucified body of our Lord, in His ascension into heaven, and in His present life there for us as our High Priest and Advocate. (Luke 24:36-45; John 20:24-29; I Corinthians 15:4; Acts 1:10,11; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 7:23-25; I John 2:1-2).
We believe that all who receive by faith the Lord Jesus Christ are born again of the Holy Spirit and thereby become children of God, that they are indwelt and sealed by the Holy Spirit and so are secured unto the day of redemption. (John 3:3,5, 6-8; John 1: 12-13; John 14:16-17; Ephesians 1:13,14; Ephesians 4:30; I Corinthians 6:19; I Corinthians 13:8).
• We believe that speaking in tongues was a sign gift to the 1st century church and is not applicable for today's church. Thus this church nor her members practice speaking in tongues.
• We believe that today God heals according to His will and that "faith healing" was a sign gift for the 1st century church and is not applicable for today's church.

We believe that the church of Jesus Christ began at Pentecost, is composed solely of believers, is the body and bride of our Lord, is distinct from Israel, and that its business is to complete itself through the winning of lost souls to Christ. (Matthew 16:16-18; Acts 2:47; Ephesians 1:22-23; Ephesians 5:23; Revelation 19:7; Proverbs 11:30; Daniel 12:3; I Corinthians 9:19-20).
We believe in "That Blessed Hope", the personal and imminent coming of our Lord in the air for His saints to rapture His church. We also believe in the personal, visible and glorious return of Christ to the earth with His saints at the end of the tribulation period to establish His Millennial Kingdom. (Titus 2:13; II Thessalonians 4:13-18; I Corinthians 15:51-58; Acts 1:10, 11; Revelation 1:7; Jude 14).
• This church believes that the Lord Jesus Christ will return to rapture out His church just prior to the tribulation period.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust, the everlasting blessedness of the saved and the everlasting punishment of the lost. (Acts. 24:15; I Thessalonians 4:16; II Corinthians 4:14; Psalm 16:11; I Peter 1:3-4; Luke 16:23,24; II Peter 2:9; Revelation 20:15).
We believe that Satan, a fallen angel, is the god of this age, the adversary of Christ and His church, and that his destiny is eternal punishment in the "lake of fire". (II Corinthians 4:3-4; Matthew 4:3-10; II Corinthians 11:14; James 4:7; I Peter 5:8,9; Revelation 20:10).
We believe that Jesus Christ instituted the Lord's Supper to commemorate His death till He comes. We believe that water baptism by immersion is an ordained testimony, portraying the believer's union with Christ in His death, burial and resurrection. (Matthew 26:26-29; I Corinthians 11:23-26; Romans 6:1-5).
We believe in the "Great Commission" of the Lord Jesus Christ, to give the gospel to all peoples, both locally and worldwide. (Matthew 28:19-20; Luke 24:44-49); John 17:18; 20:21-23; Acts 1:8; Romans 1:15-16).
We believe that God is the source of all blessings, temporal and spiritual, and that all we have and are, we owe to Him. We believe that Christians have a spiritual debtorship to the whole world, a holy trusteeship in the gospel, and a binding stewardship in their possessions. Therefore, we believe that we are under obligation to serve Him with our time, talents, and material possessions and we should recognize all these as entrusted to us to use for the glory of God and for helping others. According to the scriptures, we believe that we should contribute of our means cheerfully, regularly, systematically, proportionately and liberally for the advancement of our Redeemer's cause on earth. (Genesis 14:20; Leviticus 27:30-32; Malachi 3:8-12; Matthew 6:1-4, 19-21, 23:23, 25:14-29; Luke 12:16-21,42,16:1-3; Acts 2:44-47, 5:1-11, 17:24-25, 20:35; Romans 6:6-22, 12:1-2; I Corinthians 4:1-2, 6:19-20,12,16:1-4; II Corinthians 8-9; 12:15; Philippians 4:10-19; I Peter 1:18-19).
